Why Kids Need Regular Visits
As your child grows and develops, regular dental visits are essential because their teeth, jaws and daily habits quickly change. Seeing a dentist regularly helps prevent problems early and support healthy development.
What regular visits do:
Monitoring Bite Development and Tooth Alignment
Pick up on early signs of crowding and start interceptive orthodontic treatment which may remove the need for braces in the future or reduce complexity
Treat cavities early
Early cavities can be treated simply. Large cavities require extensive treatment that can be costly and difficult.
Avoid pain and infection
Untreated dental problem can lead to toothaches which interrupt eating, sleeping and result in missed school or important days
Support overall health
Oral health is integrated to overall health, problems in the mouth can affect nutrition, speech, confidence and development in children
Teach healthy habits and build comfort with dental care
Reinforce lifelong proper brushing and flossing habits
Non-emergency visits help children become comfortable visiting dentist, reducing anxiety about dentists for life
Dental radiographs
Monitor for cavities and other pathology
Early referral to specialist if needed
Dental checkups are recommended every 6 month for most children, however some children may need more frequent visits depending on their risk for orthodontic issues or cavities.
